Make the backup of your data and your current ROM before you start this tutorial. Everything will be deleted from your internal storage. If anything bad happens to your phone than I am not responsible.

Please make sure the necessary drivers are installed for your device on your computer. PC Companion is recommended because it installs the required driver.

Step 1

Run the Flashtool.exe, connect your device to the computer and see if your device is detected by the software or not. Make sure flashtool recognizes your device. If it doesnot recognize than navigate to C:/Flashtool/Driver which has the Flashtool-drivers for all Xperia devices, you may install drivers through Flashtool in case you face any difficulty at the time of flashing. Access the Flashtool-drivers and install Fastboot & Flashmode drivers as well first.

Step 2

In Flashtool, click the lightening button on the top left, select whether you want to run Flashmode or Fastboot mode. Select Flashmode and select the Xperiaz_10.5.A.0.230_kernel_only.ftf  file and hit Flash at Right bottom side of the windows.

Step 3

As soon as the file is loaded, you should see a pop up, prompting you to connect your device to the PC in Flashmode. Now, turn off your device, and connect to your PC using the original data cable while keeping the Volume down key pressed. This is for flashmode.

After the flashing is finished disconnect your phone from the computer and reboot your device, you will see WIFI is not working. Don’t worry it will work afterwards.

Step 4

Now you have two options. You can root your phone either with the root options on the flashtool or using Easy Root. If you are root using Flashtool, just connect your smarthphone to the computer using data cable and hit the Root icon on the flashtool. Or just follow the link of Easy Root and use that method.

Step 5

After you are successfull with rooting your phone, you have to flash XperiaZ_10.5.1.A.0.283_kernel_only.ftf  again to your smartphone. In Flashtool, click the lightening button on the top left, select whether you want to run Flashmode or Fastboot mode. Select Flashmode and select the XperiaZ_10.5.1.A.0.283_kernel_only.ftf and hit Flash at Right bottom side of the windows.
